- 1 pie crust (lazy person tips on a fluted pie crust: make it in a fluted tart pan)
- 2 eggs plus 1 egg yolk
- 1¼ cups sugar
- 6 Tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 Tablespoons flour
- 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- ¼ teaspoon ground allspice
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prick the pie crust with a fork and blind bake for 10 minutes, or until just starting to color.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar. Add the butter, flour, cocoa, spices, and buttermilk and stir until combined.
- Pour into the prepared pie crust and bake at 350 for 25 minutes. The pie should still have a but of wobble, but will set as it cools.
